The Dawning
The Dawning, Destiny 2's annual winter event, is back with a bang in 2024, bringing with it a host of new activities, rewards, and festive cheer.
Here's everything you need to know about this year's event:
Start and End Dates The Dawning 2024 kicks off today, December 10, 2024, at 9 AM Pacific Time (PT) and will run until December 31, 2024, at 9 AM PT. This gives players three weeks to immerse themselves in the holiday spirit, complete challenges, and earn exclusive rewards.
New Loot and Cosmetics This year's Dawning introduces a new Void linear fusion rifle called Mistral Lift, which can drop with the perk Withering Gaze, allowing players to weaken targets by aiming the weapon for a short period4. Additionally, players can look forward to three celestial dragon-themed cosmetic sets, including the Astral Stasis Drake armor ornament, which features actual wings and stellar Shader work.
Event Card and Rewards The Dawning 2024 includes an Event Card with objectives that grant currency, weapons, and an optional upgrade for 1,000 Silver ($10) that provides bonus cosmetics.
Community Event: Dawning Bake-Off A community event called the Dawning Bake-Off encourages players to bake specific sets of cookies each week, progressing community goals and making associated emblems more common to obtain.

Activities and Mechanics The Dawning features unique mechanics like baking cookies, which players can deliver to NPCs for rewards. Activities include farming Essence of Dawning, participating in the Bake-Off, and earning Bright Dust. The event also introduces a new three-round burst Void linear fusion rifle, Mistral Lift, which can be a great choice for DPS with its access to Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch perks
