Description
Legendary items connect Diablo IV's equipment to its build-defining powers. Their Aspects sit alongside skills and Uniques: a useful drop can change which abilities your character supports, while its affixes determine how well the individual piece fits.
Turning drops into equipment
- Tempering. A Tempering Recipe lets you choose the affix you apply. Items have one tempered affix, and Tempering Charges can be restored repeatedly.
- Masterworking. Improving Quality raises an item's base damage, armor or resistance. It is a separate step from choosing a tempered affix.
- Legendary Aspects. The skill-tree redesign moved some former passive powers onto equipment, while some old Aspects became skill-tree choices.
What makes a useful drop
An item needs to fit the skills you actually use. A different Aspect can support another direction, and crafting can shape a promising base. That makes a collection of drops useful for comparing equipment before deciding what to keep. In patch 3.2.1, Blizzard increased Legendary drop rates in Torment I–V; the rates in Torment VI and above were unchanged.
