Description
Priority Contracts are the story chains of Marathon's six factions: CyberAcme, NuCaloric, Traxus, MIDA, Arachne and Sekiguchi Genetics. Bungie says that as you complete them, "you'll learn more about their identities, motivations, and rivalries" while uncovering what happened on Tau Ceti.
How the chains work
- Liaison contracts. Completing faction liaison contracts unlocks access to Marathon's six factions.
- Multi-part chains. Each faction then has its own numbered chains, such as NuCaloric's Paradigm Shift or Traxus's Return on Investment, that unlock one step at a time.
- Faction progress. Standard contracts award faction reputation, while Priority Contracts focus more on loot rewards.
After the Nightfall Refresh
Since Season 2, Priority Contracts no longer have a faction rank requirement. The October 6 Nightfall Refresh reset Priority Contracts and Faction levels. Unlocking all six factions also matters beyond the story: it is one of the entry requirements for Cryo Archive.
