Description
Faction levels are your standing with Marathon's six factions: CyberAcme, NuCaloric, Traxus, MIDA, Arachne and Sekiguchi Genetics. You raise them with reputation from contracts and faction objectives, and faction progression gives access to upgrades and Armory offers, with capstone rewards you earn each season.
How reputation comes in
- Contracts. Standard contracts award faction reputation, while Priority Contracts focus more on loot rewards. Certain contracts also award bonus reputation when completed solo or in duos.
- Faction objectives. Sekiguchi pays for stabilizing and extracting Anomalous Matter, Traxus for Dire Marsh Lockdown events, and Arachne for exfiling with a Tag Chip.
- VIP rank. After the standard ranks comes a VIP rank, which now needs the same reputation as the faction's final standard rank.
After the Nightfall Refresh
The Nightfall Refresh on October 6 reset Runner, Cradle and faction levels for everyone, and Bungie reduced the reputation needed for every faction rank to fit the shorter release. Unlocking all six factions also matters beyond the trees: it is one of the entry requirements for Cryo Archive.
Pairs well with Contracts and Priority Contracts Boost.
