Varshan is a direct entry point into the current initiate Lair Boss loop. His Malignant Burrow sits near the Tree of Whispers, and the surrounding progression makes him a convenient target for characters already completing Whispers. CarrySquad handles the encounter and leaves the successful character with the loot outcome from the boss and hoard.

The page keeps access simple. Bring the applicable Lair Key when you already have it, or select “I don't have the resources” when the order must also solve the entry requirement. The purchased objective is Varshan's defeat; the resource choice only determines how the group reaches that objective.

Build searches that lead to Varshan

Varshan's dedicated table gives him a different farming purpose from the lightning, cold, and fire bosses. Current targets include 100,000 Steps and Overkill for Barbarian, Greatstaff of the Crone for Druid, class-specific Necromancer items, Eaglehorn for Rogue, Sorcerer, Paladin, Spiritborn, and Warlock pieces, plus Shard of Verathiel from his broader selection.

That targeting advantage helps you choose the correct boss; it does not choose the reward for you. Varshan may drop another eligible Unique, ordinary gear, or a piece whose stat rolls do not fit the build. Mythic quality, Greater Affixes, and final values remain separate random checks.

Malignant Heart trophy value

Varshan is tied to the Malignant Heart trophy in the current Lair Boss system. Trophy items can support Horadric Cube conversion toward a boss's dedicated Uniques, so a run may advance a longer target-farming plan even when the direct equipment drop misses the desired slot. The Flesh-weld Rod is Varshan's cosmetic chase.

Both remain eligible outcomes rather than included merchandise. A completed encounter provides the loot roll; it cannot predetermine a Heart, cosmetic, specific Unique, or Mythic item.

Use the Tree of Whispers route wisely

Players who are already completing Tree of Whispers activities have a natural route toward Varshan. Before the group starts, confirm which character owns the access and which build needs the loot. If you supply the key, reserve it for this summon. If no usable key is available, include resource support rather than arriving with only the boss objective.

• Torment and Malignant Burrow access must be available.
• The selected character receives the encounter's item rolls.
• Inventory space should be open before the hoard is claimed.
• Additional Varshan kills require additional encounter scope.

Connect Tree of Whispers progress to the Malignant Burrow

Varshan is closely associated with Tree of Whispers activity, which makes him a natural first stop in the initiate Lair Boss ladder. If the character already holds the applicable Lair Key, keep it for the arranged encounter and use the standard route. Choose resource help only when access must be supplied with the service. This keeps the purchase focused on the real missing piece instead of obscuring who is responsible for the entrance.

The Malignant Burrow is near the Tree of Whispers in Hawezar. That convenient location does not make the shadow-and-physical fight trivial for every build. Players can use the service when their character is eligible for Torment but they would rather turn the key into a successful clear than test an unfinished setup alone.

Choose Varshan for his own class targets

Varshan's dedicated table supports a different set of searches from the lightning, cold, or fire bosses. Barbarian targets include 100,000 Steps and Overkill. Druids can pursue Autumnal Crown, Greatstaff of the Crone, or Stone of Vehemen. Necromancer, Paladin, Rogue, Sorcerer, Spiritborn, and Warlock characters each have assigned pieces, while Shard of Verathiel sits in the broader multi-class selection.

Use the character that benefits from the item family you want to inspect. The encounter still produces an independent random result: a different Unique may appear, a dropped piece may have unsuitable values, or the run may not produce an upgrade. Mythic quality and Greater Affixes add further variance. The completed Varshan fight is fixed by the order; the reward identity is not.

Place Malignant Heart and Flesh-weld Rod in context

Malignant Heart is Varshan's trophy in the current Lair Boss loop. A dropped Heart can contribute to Horadric Cube conversion toward Varshan's dedicated Uniques, so it can retain value when the direct equipment roll misses. Flesh-weld Rod is the separate cosmetic chase linked to this encounter. Both are eligible possibilities rather than automatic parts of one completion.

Before the run, confirm the character, leave inventory space, and preserve the planned key. Self-play customers should accept the group invite and follow instructions during Varshan's shadow and physical mechanics. Once the Echo is defeated, collect the boss and hoard results on that character. Further kills create further attempts for equipment, trophy, cosmetic, and Mythic outcomes without changing the honest RNG boundary.
