Doctrine from Overwatch Season 5 with the text Team Drives, Oct 29 – Nov 1

Team Drives are back from October 29 to November 1. Finish your placements, queue up, and win. Every win keeps you grouped with the same teammates, and the longer that team keeps winning, the faster you climb Gladiator Ranks toward The Trial.

How Team Drives work

It's a short Competitive event that rewards sticking with a team that clicks. You can jump in solo, with friends, or with a full stack.

Win a match and you're auto-grouped with the other winners for the next one. Keep winning together and you earn Fame faster, which pushes you up the Gladiator Ranks. At the top waits The Trial, the last step of the event.

Hero Bans and Map Voting still work, so talk picks and maps over with your new crew.

What you get

  • Competitive Points for climbing.
  • Player Card Frames. Team Drives give frames, not Signatures.
  • A Dynamic Title for the first 10,000 groups to finish the final Trial.

Step by step

  1. Finish your placements first. Blizzard asks for this before you jump in, so don't wait until Saturday to start them.
  2. Turn auto-grouping on. It's under Social > General > Groups, "Enable Auto-Grouping on Team Drive Wins". You can switch it off, but going solo makes the event a lot harder.
  3. Stay with the winners. Each win in a row with the same team gives a bigger Fame bonus. If you leave to queue solo, you keep your own bonus but lose your teammates' bonuses.
  4. Clear The Trial. In the first Team Drive in September, The Trial was winning 3 of your last 4 games. Go in with your best group.

Tips to finish before Sunday

  • Start early. Blizzard hasn't posted an end time for November 1, so don't leave your Trial for Sunday night.
  • Don't break up a winning group. Requeue solo and you keep your own bonus, but you lose the boost from your teammates' wins.
  • Use the downtime between games. Agree on bans and map votes before the next match starts.

FAQ

Can I play Team Drives solo?

Yes. Queue alone and wins will group you with the other winners. Just keep auto-grouping on.

Do I need to finish placements first?

Yes. Blizzard says to finish your Competitive placements before jumping into Team Drives.

How many players get the Dynamic Title?

It goes to the first 10,000 groups to finish the final Trial, so the earlier you finish, the better your chances.

When does it end?

On November 1. Blizzard's Season 5 post gives the dates but not the hour, so plan to finish by Saturday.
