'Destiny 2': Choose Your Class In The Guardian Games

It’s time for some class warfare. The fun kind! Today, Bungie is debuting the Guardian Games, a brand-new event for the world that pits Warlocks, Titans and Hunters against each other to put their money where there mouths are after years of trash-talking each other. Every day will bring a new opportunity to get in the mix, kill some enemies and earn accolades for your class of choice. Which brings us to one central question: which class is that?

The funny thing about this is that most hardcore and even most mid-core players have one of each character, especially since recent changes to quest structure has made it easier than ever to juggle three Guardians for maximum rewards. For those players, it’s less about getting out there and representing your Guardian than it is selecting which one of your Guardians you most want to represent. Or, depending on how rewards are structured, mainlining all three in one day.

Here’s what to know if you want to choose one, however: the competition is going to be normalized for player population. The stylish, ne’er do well Hunters are over represented, apparently, but according to Bungie that won’t impact standing. So don’t choose who you think will win, choose who you want to play as:

“We fully acknowledge that class populations are a little lopsided. Hunters are so fabulous with their capes that there are indeed more of them than Warlocks or Titans. To help offset this (so Hunters don’t steal the show every day), medals will be weighted slightly per class to maintain a level playing field. We aren’t fiddling with the numbers to force wins on alternate classes—Hunters could still take this entire thing if they put enough effort in.”

I played a hunter throughout the entirety of the original Destiny, then switched over to Warlock in Destiny 2 and a Titan more recently. Now I suppose I juggle them all, though the Hunter’s Ushanka for the Season of the Worthy means that I spend more time than I would otherwise rocking that awesome hat. Still not sure who I’ll go with tomorrow.
