How to Get Exotic Catalysts in Destiny 2 and When a Boost Makes Sense

There is no single way to get an Exotic catalyst in Destiny 2. Each weapon has its own unlock, so you have to read the objective on the weapon you want. We boost one family of them: the Praxic Blade catalysts, from $29.

Here is what changed this year, which bugs are fixed, and when paying for the unlock is the better deal.

What changed with Monument of Triumph

Bungie's Monument of Triumph update went live on June 9, 2026. Bungie says it did not want to leave any Exotic behind, so it added 25 catalysts to weapons that had none, and put perks on nine older catalysts that only gave stat boosts.

The practical result: if you gave up on a weapon because it had no catalyst, look at it again.

How to find the one you need

Open the weapon and read the catalyst objective. Some are a drop from an activity, some are a quest, some are kill counters. Do not assume one weapon works like another.

If the catalyst is tied to a dungeon or mission, check that you have the mission unlocked first. Most wasted runs come from a locked prerequisite.

Bugs that already got fixed

Bungie's patch notes list several catalysts that did not work at launch. If you tried one in June and it did nothing, try again.

• Collective Obligation: kills only counted from the Kinetic slot weapon. Fixed in update 9.7.0.1 (June 16, 2026).
• Wish-Ender catalyst: the Shattered Throne final encounter was not dropping it. Fixed in 9.7.0.1.
• One Thousand Voices, Fafnir and Tarrabah: the catalysts were not progressing. Fixed in 9.7.0.2 (June 23, 2026).

Praxic Blade catalysts

The Praxic Blade catalysts are the ones we sell. Our product card lists two requirements: the Renegades campaign finished and the Fire and Ice Exotic Mission unlocked. If the mission is still locked, add the unlock to the order for $19.

The route includes Equilibrium steps, hidden objectives, crystals and blights. It is easy to miss a step and lose the run, which is why people pay to have it done once.

When a boost makes sense

Do it yourself if you need one catalyst and enjoy the dungeon. Pay for it if the route is what is blocking you, or if you are missing several.

Three single catalysts plus Energy Conduit would cost $157. The All 4 Catalysts Bundle is $120, so you save $37 by ordering them together.

What it costs

• Echoing Blade, Hyperblade or Upper Hand catalyst: $29 each.
• Energy Conduit catalyst: $70.
• All 4 Catalysts Bundle: $120.
• Fire and Ice Exotic Mission unlock: +$19.
• Priority +20%, Play with our team +50%, Stream +10%.
